Why I Help Others
I know what it feels like when reading doesn’t come naturally.
I’m Michele Pawlik!
For a long time, I was the student who was overlooked. I learned how to compensate early by listening carefully and working twice as hard to keep up. On the outside, I looked capable, but reading never felt accessible. No one named the problem, and no one showed me a helpful way.
That experience stayed with me. When I became a teacher, and later a literacy educator, I began recognizing the same patterns in my students. Bright, capable learners were being left behind. Their reading difficulties were misunderstood as student deficits, not instructional gaps. I am committed to changing that narrative.
Today, as a literacy educator, dyslexia therapist, and doctoral researcher, I bridge the gap between research and the classroom to make evidence-based practices accessible. I translate the Science of Reading into practical strategies that honor how each child's brain learns. When families and educators work with me, they gain both effective instruction for their students and the confidence to advocate for instructional support

Reading Difficulties are an Instruction Problem, not a Child Deficit
I believe reading is not a natural process and must be taught explicitly and systematically.

At Structured Literacy Solutions, my mission is to help children who struggle with reading feel confident and capable.
I support families through clear, research-based instruction, educational evaluations, and individualized tutoring grounded in the Science of Reading using the Structured Literacy model. Using assessment results, I design targeted lessons that meet each child’s specific needs.
